Eight blue bulls (nilgais) that had fallen into a farm well were rescued by wildlife trackers and foresters in Sanaliya village of Amreli district recently. The group of nilgais plunged one after another into an abandoned well that was full of sludge to escape a pride of lions that was chasing them in the night. The lions had also killed one nilgai.  "The nilgais did not see the well that was just behind to the wall that they had jumped over. However, the trackers and forest team rescued them alive," said Pravin Vithlani, then range forest officer (RFO), Amreli, who retired on May 31.
