Ahmedabad crime branch on Friday arrested three persons, including two minors, accused in the case of abduction and murder of 10-year-old boy, Rudra Choksi, a class 6 student of Subharti Pre-Primary School in Maninagar. Of the two minors arrested, one is a class 12 student and the other a boy driven out by his family for stealing jewellery worth Rs 7 lakh from his own house. The main accused, Deep Parekh, 21, is an engineering dropout.
Deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Deepan Bhadran said Rudra's father, Ketan Choksi, a resident of Shajanand Apartment in Maninagar, owns a jewellery shop named, Maitri Rodiums in Astodia area of the city. Rudra was the only son of Ketan Choksi. "The kidnappers had stabbed the little boy to death even before making a ransom call. The three accused had decided to extort Rs 20 lakh as ransom money," Bhadran said.
