The longest bus strike in BEST’s history, which disrupted the schedule and movement of 25 lakh commuters, ended on its ninth day after the transport undertaking agreed to offer a pay hike to 13,000 junior grade employees which would take their salaries 10 grades higher. Declaring the end of the stir at 3.30pm, workers’ union leader Shashank Rao said employees would get a gross salary hike of Rs 7,000 each starting this month.
