After losing all three seats in the Rajasthan bypolls to Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seems to have finally found its ground in Gujarat. As per early numbers, BJP remained way ahead of the Congress in the Gujarat bypolls. The bypolls are being held in 75 municipalities along with two district panchayats and 17 taluka panchayats. Following the counting results, it Bharatiya Janata Party has claimed victory on 47 seats while Congress won only 16. Dahod had recorded the highest voter turnout of 76.67% while Rajkot had the lowest turnout of 50.17%.
The following bypolls was being looked as the testing stage for the BJP. The ruling party, BJP, held 59 out of 75 municipalities and also 13 of the 17 taluka panchayats. The elections for the same were held on Saturday. After snatching all three seats from BJP in Rajasthan, Congress party seems to be leaving no-stone-unturned in order to maintain their ‘winning’ league. As the counting for the 75 municipalities and 17 taluka panchayats is underway today, the BJP hopes on improving its threshold in the state after facing a major jolt by the Congress during the Assembly Elections 2017 in Gujarat.
