A total of 67,218 seats were offered by medical colleges across India this year according to government data, which translates to less than 6 seats per one lakh population. While Karnataka offered the maximum medical seats in the country, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram and Nagaland do not have any medical colleges. Tamil Nadu has the maximum medical seats in government colleges.
