With Ola, Uber drivers striking work on Monday, users were in for a long day. A large number of commuters in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai and Bengaluru depend on these online cab aggregators for their daily commute. The strikewas  called for by Maharashtra Navnirman Vahtuk Sena, the transport wing of Raj Thackeray led-MNS. The drivers had alleged that they weren’t getting their due.
Commuters in Mumbai were worst-hit with many taking to social media to vent their frustration. Reportedly, cab drivers were charging exorbitant amounts, even three times the normal fare, complained users. The state government issued prohibitory orders against the leaders of the striking drivers, Arif Shaikh, Nitin Nandgaonkar and Sanjay Naik but that didn’t deter them from creating ruckus. Nandgaonkar was caught on video, destroying the windshield of a cab. A twitter user said he was left stranded when his cab driver cancelled after making him wait, saying that the ‘seth’ had told him about the strike. Traffic has been thin on Mumbai roads despite it being a Monday.
