In order to assess the actual coverage of sanitation, the government will now undertake a nationwide survey in rural areas. This survey will cover 92,000 rural households across 4,626 villages and another 200 villages along the Ganga. Quality Council of India has been engaged to carry out this survey by the drinking water and sanitation ministry.
