The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in India crossed the 8 lakh-mark on Friday after new cases were reported from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Delhi. India recorded 27,114 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the confirmed cases tally in the country to 8,20,916 on Saturday. The number includes 2,83,407 active cases and 5,15,386 cured/discharged cases. The death toll has now mounted to 22,123, as per the latest figures released by the Union health ministry on Saturday morning. Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) figures on Saturday: "1,13,07,002 samples were tested for the novel coronavirus till July 10. Of these, 2,82,511 samples were tested yesterday [Friday]."
