On the occasion of India's 76th Independence Day, 347 Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) were awarded to police personnel, with Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) receiving 109 medals, the highest of any paramilitary or state police force. J&K Police received 108 PMGs, the highest among states and UTs. A total of 1,082 police personnel were given various awards this year.
