Gujarat registered 485 fresh cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking its tally to 2,56,852, the state Health Department said. The death toll due to COVID-19 rose to 4,369 after 2 more persons succumbed to the infection during the same period, said a release by the Health Department. The state government claimed the COVID-19 situation is gradually improving with 709 more patients getting discharged from hospitals during the day, taking the total recoveries to 2,46,516.
After a long time, the number of active cases dropped below the 6,000-mark on Tuesday. At present, Gujarat has 5,967 active COVID-19 cases, of which, 52 patients are on ventilator. With significant recoveries in recent times, the COVID-19 recovery rate has gone up to 95.98 per cent, the release said.
