Veteran actor, mimicry artist and social worker Aasha Singh Jaiswal, best remembered for her work across films, television and live performances, has passed away in Mumbai. She died on August 22 at around 7:30 pm, her son Akkash Bharadwaj confirmed.
Aasha Jaiswal Singh was known by her son as India's first woman mimicry artist who was famous for mimicking the voice of the legendary actress, Meena Kumari.
Television audiences particularly remembered her as Kripi, the sister of Kripacharya, in B.R. Chopra’s landmark mythological series 'Mahabharat'. She also appeared in films including ‘Baazigar’, ‘Bobby Jasoos’, ‘Deewangee’, ‘Aag’, ‘Kayda Kanoon’, ‘Aansu Bane Angaarey’ and ‘Ghar Bazar’, taking on a range of character roles.
