The Health Ministry in its revised guidelines has instructed doctors treating patients with COVID-19 to avoid prescribing steroids as it increases the risk of secondary infections such as black fungus when used too early or at a higher dose. It added that a patient should be tested for tuberculosis if severe cough persists for more than two to three weeks.
