Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant has strongly condemned a newly introduced chapter in the NCERT Class 8 Social Science textbook that discusses "corruption in the judiciary".
The Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognisance of the matter, viewing it as a "calculated" and "deep-rooted" effort to defame the institution, asserting that "no one will be allowed to defame the institution".
Declaring that the apex court will take suo motu cognisance of the matter, the CJI underlined that no one would be permitted to malign the institution.
