The voiding of Article 370 and bifurcation of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh into two Union Territories was an internal matter of India with no implications for external boundaries or the Line of Actual Control, foreign minister S Jaishankar told his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on Monday.
Jaishankar’s assertion that change in J&K’s status related to a temporary provision of the Indian Constitution came in response to the Chinese foreign minister bringing up the vote in Parliament that turned Article 370 into a dead letter. In the context of Indo-Pakistan relations, the Chinese side should base its assessment on realities, the Indian statement said.
