The extended Budget Session commenced with the three-day special sitting on Thursday (April 16, 2026). Three key bills — the Constitution (131st) Amendment Bill, the Delimitation Bill, 2026, and the Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026 — were tabled in the Lok Sabha.
A division votes was held with 251 in favour of the introduction and 185 opposed. The government has said these are aimed at expediting the implementation of 33% reservation for women in the Lower House and the State Assemblies.
