The number of daily fatalities too rose with 138 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours. For the first time in many days, the number of active Covid-19 cases in India breached over 1.5 lakh. On January 29, 18,855 new infections were recorded in a span of 24 hours after which the daily rise of cases stayed below 15,000.This is also the first time when the number of fresh infections surpassed the number of daily discoveries. Against 16,738 new cases, India reported 11,799 recoveries in the last 24 hours.
