Anticipating a Pakistani retaliation to the Balakot bombing, Delhi, Mumbai and five other cities have been put on "highest alert" for the next 72 hours, a period being termed 'crucial'. At least three of these cities are in Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat. he inputs are being verbally conveyed to the anti-terror units in these towns and cities and no written alert has been issued given their sensitivity, an official said.
Five districts of Punjab - Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, Amritsar, Ferozepur, and Fazilka - share a 553km-long border with Pakistan. Rajasthan, which shares a 1,048km-long border with Pakistan, has prohibited all movement of civilians within a 5km radius from the international border between 6 pm and 7 am till the first week of April.
