The government has asked Google to take down several Firebase web development accounts impersonating the websites and mobile apps of prominent public- and private-sector banks and other financial institutions.
The notices, sent by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, said the websites and databases were impersonating the Android apps of major banks to defraud users through tactics such as reward-point redemption offers and credit card limit upgrades.
