Balkrushna Panchal, convicted of rape and sent to seven years of jail, had sought bail from Gujarat high court. The 40-year-old got lucky when he walked out a free man on Wednesday after the court found him innocent and acquitted him in the first hearing itself !
Justice R P Dholaria acquitted Panchal taking cognizance of the victim's statement that she was fully aware that Panchal was married, had children but still fell in love with him. The court observed that in such a case Panchal was erroneously convicted by the lower court citing false promise of marriage.
