In a move to enhance student safety, Director General of Police (DGP) Vikas Sahay has issued a directive to the Education Department, mandating the presence of two police personnel during all school trips across the state.
In an official letter addressed to the Principal Secretary of the Education Department, DGP Sahay instructed that all government, semi-government, and private schools must ensure at least two uniformed police officers accompany students on any school-organised trip, tour, picnic, or educational visit.
Key aspects of the new guidelines:
Police Presence:
A police officer will be stationed at every school trip, including picnics.
Female Police Officer:
If there are female students attending the trip, a female police officer will be assigned to ensure their safety.
School-Police Liaison:
School principals are required to contact the local police station to arrange for the police presence.
Parental Consent:
Schools cannot force students or parents to participate in picnics; participation depends on parental consent.
Parental Meeting:
Schools must hold meetings with parents to discuss the trip's details and safety measures.
