Gujarat has received Rs 170.79 crore from the central government under the COVID-19 package and an additional Rs 85 crore is due. The Central government has released total of Rs 3,000 crore in Phase-1 and Rs 1256.81 crore in Phase-2 to the States and Union Territories under the COVID-19 package. Gujarat’s allocation was Rs 85.79 crore in Phase-I and Rs 170 crore in Phase-II. The entire amount of Phase-1 has been released and Rs 85 crore from Phase-II has also been released by the Centre. Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Shri Ashwini Kumar Choubey provided the information in Rajya Sabha on September 20, 2020 while replying to a written question raised by Member of Parliament, Shri Parimal Nathwani. 
Shri Nathwani wanted to know about the steps taken and assistance including financial help, extended by the Central Government to help the States to fight COVID-19 pandemic, particularly with regard to Gujarat.
Moreover, the Centre has also provided machines worth Rs 3,99,72,800 including six CFX-96 Touch Real Time PCR Detection System costing Rs 89,20,800, one CFX96-IVD Real-Time PCR System costing Rs. 15,22,500 and seven Automated RNA Extraction machines costing Rs 2,95,29,500. 
Gujarat has also received 3,49,016 RNA kits worth Rs 3,88,23,901 from the Centre as of 11 September, 2020 as well as 4,00,000 VTMs of Rs 4,82,88,338 and 7,12,767 RT-PCR kits costing Rs 40,90,47,887. The Centre has distributed 21.02 lakh N95 masks to Gujarat as of 18 September, 2020, as well as 9.78 lakh PPE kits, 28.5 lakh HCQ tablets and 2500 ventilators.
According to the minister, the central government has taken a series of actions to support states for responding to COVID-19 and remain prepared for the future pandemics. A package of Rs 15,000 crores under “India COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health System Preparedness Package” has been approved by the Cabinet on 22nd April, 2020 with an objective to prevent, detect and respond to the threat posed by COVID-19 and strengthen national systems for public health preparedness, said the minister.
