Shops, malls, restaurants, hotels, cafes, garages and showrooms in Gujarat can now remain open 24 hours a day after the Gujarat Ease of Doing Business Bill, 2026 was passed by a majority in the state Assembly.
The provision, however, does not mean employees can be made to work continuously. Existing legal provisions concerning working hours, rest intervals, leave, employment conditions and workers' safety will continue to apply
