Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat has clarified that he has not resigned from the Congress, saying he only expressed a desire to step down from his two organisational posts if the recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) episode in Dehradun affects the party's fight against corruption.

In a fresh Facebook post, Rawat said his association with the Congress runs deep and that he would not leave the party.

"Congress party membership is in my blood and bones," Rawat said, adding that the party had shaped everything that he is and would remain with him even in the afterlife.

Rawat's clarification came after his earlier post was interpreted as an announcement that he had resigned from his Congress posts.
