A Hong Kong court sentenced pro-democracy media tycoon Jimmy Lai to 20 years in prison, the harshest punishment so far under the Beijing-imposed national security law. Lai has become one of the most prominent faces of the law’s sweeping crackdown on dissent, Bloomberg reported.
