West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met the victims of the cyclone at the Jalpaiguri Super Specialty Hospital, said the officials on Monday. Banerjee, while speaking to reporters said at least five people have lost their lives and two others are critical. Several houses were damaged due to the cyclone, she added.
"Sad to know that sudden heavy rainfall and stormy winds brought disasters today afternoon in some Jalpaiguri-Maynaguri areas, with loss of human lives, injuries, house damages, uprooting of trees and electricity poles etc," she said on X.
