Payal Kapadia made history at the 77th Cannes Film Festival by being the first Indian filmmaker to win the second highest award at the prestigious festival - the Grand Prix award.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X (Formerly Twitter) to congratulate Kapadia and her team on earning this distinguished accolade. He praised her creativity and said that she is going to inspire a whole generation of storytellers.

Addressing Kapadia’s historic feat, PM Narendra Modi wrote - "India is proud of Payal Kapadia for her historic feat of winning the Grand Prix at the 77th Cannes Film Festival for her work ‘All We Imagine as Light’.
