Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to express grief, “Extremely anguished by the fire tragedy in Surat. My thoughts are with bereaved families. May the injured recover quickly. Have asked the Gujarat Government and local authorities to provide all possible assistance to those affected”.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has ordered an investigation into the incident. The state has also declared financial help of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of children who died in this incident.

Rajnath Singh also took to Twitter to express condolences, “deeply saddened by the loss of precious lives due to fire in Surat. My thoughts are with the families of the deceased. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured”.

Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot also expressed condolences on Twitter, “extremely pained by the tragic loss of lives due to a massive fire in a building in #Surat, #Gujarat. The incident is very unfortunate and I hope that others who are trapped are rescued soon. My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families”.

Vijay Goel also wished speedy recovery for the injured, “Extremely disturbed by the visuals of the fire tragedy in Surat. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. I pray for the speedy recovery of injured.”
