Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday called for developing a template by the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) to effectively deal with the challenges of extremism and radicalisation.
"I believe biggest challenges in the region are related to peace, security & trust deficit," he said in his virtual address.
PM also said the recent developments in Afghanistan reflect the challenge of increasing radicalisation, the root cause of these problems and have made the challenge more clear.

He also called for developing a strong network among moderate, tolerant and inclusive institutions and traditions associated with Islam.

"The fight against radicalisation is not only needed for regional security and trust but also required to ensure a bright future for the youth of the region," he added.
The prime minister also said that India is committed to increasing its connectivity with Central Asia. We believe that landlocked Central Asian countries can benefit immensely by connecting with India's vast market, the prime minister added in his statement.
At the same time, he also said that any connectivity initiative cannot be a "one-way street" and that connectivity projects should be consultative, transparent and participatory, and there should be territorial integrity of all countries.He also stressed on encouraging the youngsters to adopt a scientific and logical approach.
