Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday appointed Rakesh Asthana, the former Special Director of CBI, as Commissioner of Delhi Police. Currently, Asthana holds the post of Director General of Border Security Force (BSF). The 1984-batch IPS officer from Gujarat cadre was moved out of CBI in 2019 following a controversy involving then-Director Alok Verma over the handling of high-profile cases.
