Outage in Reliance Jio services left many users unable to make calls or to send SMSes in the morning hours of November 29. It appears that many Jio users were complaining that their SMSes aren't getting delivered. Many also claimed that the 4G VoLTE sign has disappeared from their devices.

While one may be able to live without carrier services like calling and text messages in a home setting where wi-fi is available, this service might have severely impacted people who don't use smartphones. Users began reporting issues early in the morning, at about 6 am. The outage lasted for three hours, up to 9 am. The three-hour long disruption didn't affect mobile data - only calling and SMS services were not working.

Besides losing ability to make calls and send SMSes, Jio users were also unable to initiate two-factor authentication on various platforms to get one time passwords (OTP). According to DownDetector, hundreds of users across major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata were affected by the outage that has now been resolved.Reliance Jio has made no public statement about the outage, but issues seem to have been fixed. Similar outages have rocked Reliance Jio this year, with users reporting same issues in October this year.1
