In a strong message to the White House, a group of 21 Members of the US Congress, led by Congresswoman Deborah Ross and Congressman Ro Khanna, urged President Donald Trump to take immediate steps to repair America’s strained relationship with India and roll back his administration’s tariff hikes.

In a letter dated October 8, the lawmakers said that recent tariff hikes, which raised duties on Indian goods to as high as 50 per cent, had “strained relations with the world’s largest democracy, creating negative consequences for both countries.” They called on the President to “reset and repair this critical partnership.”
