Senior cleric Ayatollah Alireza Arafi will act as Iran’s interim Supreme Leader after the killing of Ali Khamenei, according to the state-linked IRNA news agency. Arafi has been named the jurist member of the temporary leadership council tasked with exercising the Supreme Leader’s powers during the transition until a permanent successor is selected under Iran’s constitutional process.
