In a historic shift for the nation’s political trajectory, Tarique Rahman sworn-in as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh on Tuesday afternoon, February 17. Earlier today, Rahman, along with all elected BNP MPs, took oath at the National Parliament building in Dhaka.
The swearing-in marks the first time in two decades that a BNP leader has assumed the prime ministership, and makes Rahman the country’s first male prime minister in 36 years.
