Indian all-rounder Vijay Shankar was Monday ruled out of the ongoing World Cup due to a toe injury. While the blow at the nets off Jasprit Bumrah hadn’t looked very serious to start with, it looks to have been aggravated. Mayank Agarwal is set to replace Vijay Shankar for the rest of the tournament. Agarwal will join the team in Birmingham where India are scheduled to play a match on July 2 against Bangladesh.

Shankar is the second Indian player to be ruled out of the tournament after senior opener Shikhar Dhawan exited due to a thumb fracture, sustained in the game against Australia. Rishabh Pant had replaced him.
