For the first time, a cruise service is launched from Mumbai Port to Diu with cruise ship 'Karnika' leaving Mumbai port at 20:30 hours today with 400 passengers.
Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, Hon’ble Minister of State for Shipping (Independent Charge), Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India, on the occasion said that he is extremely happy & welcomes the cruise tourists. He committed to promote & support the cruise business as it has tremendous potential for job creation & developing local & regional economies in particular. The Minister thanked the operator of Karnika for taking this initiative at his behest.
On the occasion of flagging off, Shri Sanjay Bhatia, IAS, Chairman, Mumbai Port Trust remarked that as per targets are given by the Honourable Union Minister of State for Shipping to add newer ports & destinations, Diu will be frequented by the Cruise ship 17 times until May 2020. Progressively more ports shall be added.
Karnika is a premium luxury cruise ship with exclusive decor & cuisine to attract not only the vast majority of the Indian travellers but also the discerning foreign tourists.
