After the death toll due to the alleged consumption of contaminated cough syrups in India reached 20, an apprehensive World Health Organisation on Wednesday sought from New Delhi a clarification on whether any of these medicines were exported to other countries as well, news agency Reuters reported.

The world health body further asserted that it will examine the need for a Global Medical Products Alert on Coldrif syrup, the medicine banned in several Indian states amid reports that children died after consuming it, subject to official confirmation from authorities in India.
