Several projects, including some with investments estimating Rs 50,000 crore, have been held up due to the state government’s failure in submitting the coastal zone management plan (CZMP) as mandated by the National Green Tribunal (NGT). Last November, NGT directed that the ministry of environment and forests should not grant development permission for coastal projects in regulated areas in all those states that don’t submit the CZMP.
