Despite outbreak of canine distemper virus (CDV) and babesiosis in Dhari and the government stepping up surveillance, illegal lion shows continue in private fields. Not just resort managers, but even local villagers who keep contact with hotel staff are involved in such shows.
On Friday and Saturday, teams involving the forest department and the Gir-Somanth collectorate raided 11 resorts which were illegally operating in the area and sealed them.
