A ‘deeply disturbing’ study by Oxford University shows that at least half of India’s under 18 population lives in acute poverty. Among the countries surveyed, children were found to constitute 34 percent of the total population, but 48 percent of the poor. The findings are based on measure that assesses a range of deprivations in health, education and living standards.
