 In what can spell bad news for fugitive diamond merchant Mehul Choksi, his Antiguan citizenship could be revoked followed by extradition to India, the country’s prime minister, Gaston Browne, was quoted as saying by a local newspaper. “Choksi’s citizenship was processed, he got through. We do have recourse, the reality is that his citizenship will be revoked and he will be deported to India,” Browne told Antigua Observer. The Antiguan PM added that Mehul Choksi’s legal options will need to be exhausted but also suggested that misuse of the citizenship option will not be permitted.
