Because of increasing COVID-19 cases in Gujarat, new restrictions have been imposed by the state government for social events and gatherings, where they have mandated a maximum of 50 persons at a time in the banquet hall; they should be wearing masks along and maintaining social distance. But these guidelines were not seen actively followed in an AMC run Bhaskar Pandya Hall located at Bodakhdev in Ahmedabad.
On one hand, covid patients are lined up outside hospitals for hours in search of beds, health care workers are working a double shift, 4-5 hours are waiting at the crematorium and here people were seen dancing on the beats of dhol nagadas early in the morning.
During evening time one will witness people dancing in barats outside the hall on the beat of Dj without wearing a mask, Spitting man masalas in the roads, throwing used water bottles, and openly violating all covid-19  guidelines issued by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and state government as well.
Residents of Bodakhdev are concerned that why even 50 people are allowed in social gatherings and weddings. Who will take the responsibility if these 50 will infect 5000 people in the future with this deadly covid virus?
On one hand, when a common citizen is being penalized 1000 rupees as a fine for not wearing a mask even when driving alone in his car by the AMC authorities, here in the hall run by AMC covid guidelines are being violated openly and no one is raising a concern.
It's high time that AMC should look into this matter and take serious action else the day is not far when people will drag them to the court for not the violation of Covid-19 guidelines on the premises running under its name.
