The Indian benchmark equity indices, Sensex and Nifty reversed losses to end higher on Wednesday for the 10th consecutive day. At close, the S&P BSE Sensex ended 0.4 percent higher at 40,794. The NSE Nifty 50 index also recovered 140 points from the day's low of 11,822 to end 0.3 percent higher at 11,971. Broader markets ended mixed as compared to the benchmarks, with Nifty Smallcap 100 index closing 0.23 percent higher and Nifty Midcap 100 index ending 0.30 percent lower. Among sectoral indices, Nifty Financials ended 1.79 percent higher followed by Nifty Bank and Nifty Realty, ending over a percent higher. Bajaj Finserv, SBI Life Insurance, Bajaj Finance, IndusInd Bank and Axis Bank led gains among Nifty constituents while Wipro, NTPC, ONGC, Coal India and Tata Motors were the top index losers.
