Sensex was up 465.86 points or 1.29% at 36487.28, while Nifty up 156.30 points or 1.47% at 10763.70. About 1596 shares have advanced, 1144 shares declined, and 182 shares are unchanged. M&M, Bajaj Finance, Hindalco Industries, Tata Motors and Reliance Industries were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Bajaj Auto, Gail, Bharti Airtel and HDFC. On the sectoral front, except pharma, all other indices ended higher. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices rose over 1 percent each.
