The Supreme Court on Monday sought an affidavit from the governments of four states -- Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Assam -- on the steps taken by them to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.A bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan pulled up Gujarat and Delhi for the worsening Covid-19 situation.

The apex court has asked all the states to file status reports on steps they have taken, steps intended to be taken and help needed from Centre to combat the coronavirus situation."We are seeing a huge spike in the current month. We want a latest status report from all states. Worse things may happen in December if states aren't well prepared," the Supreme Court bench said.

"We have heard Delhi, Gujarat, Assam and Maharashtra. In November, there has been a spike in Covid cases all across the country. Delhi submits that it has already filed an affidavit complying with our earlier order. Other counsels have also stated that compliance affidavits have been filed," the bench added.
