A last-minute twist has landed NEET UG 2025 results on hold -- at least for now. The Madhya Pradesh High Court’s Indore bench has temporarily stayed the NEET UG result declaration after a girl student filed a plea stating that a power cut during the test affected her performance.

The NEET UG 2025 exam was held on May 4, when several parts of Indore were hit by a power outage due to bad weather. The student’s lawyer claimed many centres in the city lacked backup power and that some students were even forced to write the paper in candlelight.

The court also pulled up the authorities for not appearing in the hearing despite earlier directions. Notices have been sent to the National Testing Agency (NTA), Central Government, and the MP West Zone Electricity Distribution Company asking them to reply within four weeks. The case will next be heard on June 30.
