Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday ordered a probe by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) into the ghastly Hathras gang-rape incident and assured that the culprits will not go unpunished. Adityanath informed that a three-member SIT has been formed and has been tasked to submit a probe report within seven days. The CM has also given orders to hold the trial in the case in a fast-track court. 

“The culprits of Hathras gang-rape incident will not be spared. An SIT has been formed to investigate the incident, the team will submit a report within next 7 days. To ensure swift justice, this case will be tried in a fast-track court,” the Uttar Pradesh CM stated. Adityanath said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken to him over the Hathras incident. The PM has demanded that “strictest of action be taken against the culprits”, he added.
