A Delhi court on Saturday sentenced four convicts in the murder of journalist Soumya Vishwanathan to life imprisonment, almost 15 years after the crime took place in the national capital. The fifth convict has been sentenced to the period already undergone by him in jail.

All four accused, Ravi Kapoor, Amit Shukla, Balbir Malik, Ajay Kumar have also been fined Rs 25,000 each and Rs 1 lakh each under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). Vishwanathan, a journalist with India Today group, was shot dead in the early hours of September 30, 2008, on south Delhi's Nelson Mandela Marg while she was returning home from work.
