A 17-year-old girl from Sangli, Maharashtra, died after her father allegedly beat her up for scoring low marks in a NEET mock test. Sadhna Bhonsle earlier scored 92.60% in her Class 10 board exams.

Sadhna was preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), the highly competitive pre-medical entrance exam in India. During a recent mock test, her performance was below expectations, which reportedly triggered her father’s anger.

Her father, Dhondiram Bhonsle, a school teacher, allegedly beat her with a stick. The assault left Sadhna with serious head injuries. She was taken to Ushakal Hospital in Sangli, but died before receiving treatment.

Police have taken the father into custody. “The girl's mother had filed a complaint at the police station on June 22, stating that her husband had beaten her up due to low marks, resulting in her death at the hospital. The accused father has been arrested and is in police custody till June 24. The case is under investigation.
