The number of patients waiting for corneal transplant at Dr RP Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences, AIIMS, has increased by three-fold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the centre's chief Dr JS Titiyal said. The National Eye Bank at the institute saw 88 per cent utilisation rate of corneas in 2021, which was higher than the national average of 67 per cent.
