Police has to resort to firing of over half a dozen tear gas shells in Athwa lines area of Surat city in Gujarat today when a mob of people of mostly minority Muslim community tried to take out a rally against the alleged mob-lynching incident of Jharkhand despite denial of permission by the authorities and went on rampage targeting vehicles and injuring 3 to 4 police personnel.
The security personnel tried to prevent the rally since the organisers had not procured the necessary permit. Now, Section 144 has been imposed in the area.
